EXPERIENCE: FAA Courses
Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) Parts 65.71 and 65.77 establish the minimum eligibility & experience requirements individuals who wish to obtain any of the Mechanic Certificates/Licenses issued by the FAA must possess. All applicants for these licenses must meet with an FAA Maintenance Inspector to obtain "Authorization to Test" (8610-2) which is based on their experience. You may contact us for information regarding how to locateĀ the FAA Maintenance Inspector nearest you. These authorizations are presented by the student at the testing center and, give the testing center the "Authority" to administer the appropriate examinations.
Licensing exams taken by students attending FAA courses require authorization to test. Each student must obtain these authorizations prior to the
enrollment deadline.
Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Course - Applicants must possess a minimum of 30 months of hands-on practical experience performing the maintenance, construction, repair, or alteration of aircraft and aircraft components.
Airframe Course (A/F) Course - Applicants must possess a minimum of 18 months of hands-on practical experience performing the maintenance, construction, repair, or alteration of airframes and airframe components.
Powerplant (P/P) Course - Applicants must possess a minimum of 18 months of hands-on practical experience performing the maintenance, construction, repair, or alteration of powerplants and powerplant components.
Oral and Practical (O&P) Course - This examination is administered to applicants as a portion of the overall licensing requirements for the A&P, A/F, or P/P Licenses.
