RESOURCES: Taking a Test
On the days of your course that are designated as test days, you will be taking your certification exams at a testing center near you.
Each of the computerized tests has their own designated time constraints. Examinations are typically multiple-choice format, and are taken using one of the secure computer connections at the testing center. You will need a prearranged appointment for each of your test sessions and we can assist you in making those arrangements.
When you arrive at the test site and check in, they must verify your identity and collect the test fee, before proceeding. A valid drivers license or military ID card should be sufficient for this. During the checking in process they will brief you on the general testing guidelines, how to use the computer and or any supplement materials that you will be provided to use during the exam. You should have your calculator with you, and it should be the same one you used during the class. You should already be very familiar with its use; you don't want to use up any extra time during the test to do so.
You will be seated at a computer terminal, and just prior to the beginning of your official exam you will perform a few "sample" test questions on the computer. This will allow you to become familiar with the entire process of moving through the test using the computer, selecting answers, navigating, etc.
In addition to the regular subject matter presented during the class, your instructor will explain in detail a number of recommendations we provide our students with that identify the best way in which one can go about getting ready to take a test, and some important steps you should follow while actually taking the examinations.
There happen to be a number of these simple guidelines for test taking which can significantly improve the score that you are able to achieve, as well as the test taking experience itself. These "Test Taking Tips" will be covered for you during class.
