RESOURCES: Test Authorizations (FAA Only)
Because the Computer Exams are taken during class, it is essential that students obtain
these test authorizations prior to class, preferably before the Registration Deadline.
The first step that ALL APPLICANTS must address in order to acquire an FAA Mechanic License, is to obtain “Authorization to Test”.
This document can only be obtained from the FAA, and without it NO APPLICANT can take the licensing examinations.
All applicants must meet with an FAA Maintenance Inspector to have their aviation experience evaluated. If the appropriate requirements are met, the inspector will issue the applicant an "Authorization to Test" (FAA Form 8610-2) at that time.
Once obtained these test authorizations may be presented to an examination center (for the computer exams), or to an examiner (for the oral & practical exam), at which point the actual Licensing Examinations may be conducted.

Instructions:
Locate the state and then the city nearest to your location. Call the number provided for that location, and ask to speak with a Maintenance Inspector. Tell the inspector that you wish to obtain "Authorization to Test" for your A&P License. This is how you begin the evaluation process. It will be necessary to arrange a meeting with the inspector to complete the process and obtain your Authorization to Test. If you need additional assistance you are welcome to contact us.
